She is attempting to understand her surroundings while also avoiding confinement by those who do not yet fully understand her purpose. The facility’s personnel lose control of the situation as she demonstrates physical abilities that exceed normal human limits. She moves quickly through the structure, bypassing security measures and creating a rapidly escalating containment failure.
Her escape continues into the wider urban environment, drawing the attention of law enforcement. A pursuit begins across the vertical traffic lanes of the city, with flying vehicles and police units attempting to intercept her. The situation becomes chaotic as Leeloo navigates an unfamiliar world at high speed, reacting instinctively rather than following any clear plan. At the height of this pursuit, she falls from an elevated structure and collides directly with a passing taxi driven by Korben Dallas, a former military figure now working as a civilian transport operator.
The collision is the first point of direct contact between the two individuals. Dallas is immediately drawn into the situation without prior knowledge of its importance. Leeloo, injured and disoriented, seeks help using limited communication. Dallas responds by prioritising her safety over compliance with authorities, choosing to evade the pursuing police rather than surrender her.
